Stimulant (ADHD), controlled substance · ATC N06BA01
Amphetamine / Dextroamphetamine
Adderall in the US
The international (INN) name. Pharmacists everywhere recognize it, even when the local brand differs (e.g. Adderall, Amfexa, Adderall XR).
Schedule II controlled substance. Pack only what you need for the trip and keep it in the original labeled bottle. Flying within the US needs no paperwork. Arriving from abroad, declare it at customs and carry a prescription or doctor’s note in English.
Adderall’s mixed amphetamine salts are not licensed in the UK; dexamfetamine is the closest equivalent and is a controlled drug.
Attentin (dextroamphetamine, MEDICE) has been sold in Germany since 2011; tightly controlled under the Betäubungsmittelgesetz (German narcotics law).
Adderall itself is not sold in France. Dexamfetamine (Tentin) is registered, with prescribing reserved to specialists.
Adderall itself is not registered in Mexico. The registered medicine in this family is lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse), a controlled psychotropic that needs a special barcoded prescription.
Banned. Amphetamine is a prohibited stimulant under Japan’s Stimulants Control Act. A foreign prescription carries no legal weight, and importing it is a criminal offence even in original packaging. Methylphenidate (Concerta) and Vyvanse fall under separate, more permissive rules; see those entries.
Adderall and other amphetamine products are not marketed in Singapore. To bring your own supply you need approval from the Health Sciences Authority before you travel, and may bring at most 3 months’ supply.
Portugal uses Elvanse (lisdexamfetamine) for ADHD. Elvanse is approved for reimbursement by the regulator (INFARMED). Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine combinations (the Adderall formulation) are not the local standard.
No amphetamine medicine is marketed in Italy. Carrying your own is a controlled-drug matter: bring your prescription and a doctor’s letter.
