Methylphenidate
Ritalin / Concerta in the US
The international (INN) name. Pharmacists everywhere recognize it, even when the local brand differs (e.g. Ritalin, Concerta, Ritaline).
Schedule II controlled substance. Pack only what you need for the trip and keep it in the original labeled bottle. Flying within the US needs no paperwork. Arriving from abroad, declare it at customs and carry a prescription or doctor’s note in English.
Controlled substance that needs a special prescription form. Tradea LP is a local extended-release alternative.
A psychotropic under Japanese law. You may bring up to 2.16 g in total without permission; above that, carry a doctor’s certificate stating your condition and the amount you need. Japan has also reported periodic Concerta shortages, so don’t count on buying it locally.
Controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
